Health effects of waste to energy?

What are the adverse health effects of gasification (waste to energy plants) from landfills? I'm doing a little research and wanted some help.

What is sustainable development? Is it possible in today's world of rapid development and huge energy demand?

How can we protect our environment and still develop? Can solar energy replace existing power plants, or is it only environment or development?

The way you ask the question leads me to believe that you already have a clue what sustainable development is. To answer your first question, yes, I believe it is. There are a number of 'off the shelf' solutions out there, and a lot of new ground to be broken in adjusting the way we do business and delving into some of the new technologies that exist.

In answer to your solar question, I believe the successful energy palette will be a colorful mix of options. We'll be weaning ourselves off of fossil fuels, and through conservation, solar, wind, geothermal, etc. etc. we can make up the balance handily. I believe India and China will by necessity pay attention to what's being accomplished and will emulate and eventually even surpass outside efforts. China's poor air quality is now world reknowned, and with all the new coal-powered plants it will get worse, but they're a world power and want to increase and solidify their position in the world, so they'll come around. I hope so, anyway, for all our sakes.

How do I stay awake for a short period of time?

I'm not sleepy now, but might feel sleepy in an hour or 2. How can I stay awake longer tonight for 3-5 more hrs.?? I had 3 glasses of green tea and a Red-Bull similar energy drink. Any other tips? I don't feel like drinking coffee!!! Cheers
The thing is I just finished downloading 2 movies (Captivity, and Turistas) and I'm planning to watch them. So I have to sit around.

i take off my monitor when im not there.
i encourage the energy saving bulbs.

Have driven a biodiesel truck and tractor since 2000
Drive a 35mpg car for commuting

Recycle 80% of our stuff... compost as well
Grow 60% of our food (danged animals require the feed)

For alternative energy in my home, can i use the inverter power to supply power to the battery charger?

I have a 3000w inverter with a 10 amps charger, 12v 800a battery.will i have continuous power?

Yes, you can power the battery charger from the inverter. And it will appear to work for a while. People actually do this, and are mystified when the battery runs down.

Our basic understanding of thermodynamics is that energy is conserved. Both the inverter and charger generate heat. Thus, you will actually run down the battery by charging it, because the inverter uses more power than the charger puts out. The pwer lost comes out mostly as heat.

Thus, for alternative energy, you need an energy source to charge your battery.

So, no, you won't have continous power by hooking the battery charger to the inverter, you will get a dead battery.
