How to Build Solar Panels = Wood + Photovoltaic Cells + Elbow Grease
I'm no mathematician but I think that equation is simple enough to follow. How to build solar panels involves some materials, the main ones being wood and photovoltaic cells, and some good ol' fashioned hard work.
The creation of solar panels is a relatively simple process. You have to build a wooden frame, connect photovoltaic cells together by soldering them, mount them onto the wooden frame, and then cover it with plexiglass. Once you have the panel completed, the only steps left are to mount the panel somewhere where it will be in the sun for several hours a day, and then wire it into your home.
You have a couple options when you want to get solar panels up on your roof. You can either build your own system using the steps I outlined above, or you can outsource a professional crew to do it for you. It will be much more expensive to have a professional crew build and install the panels, but if you have the money, and are short on time or mechanical motivation, then go with the crew.
But if you want to build a renewable energy system for a couple hundred dollars, I'd recommend building it yourself. It costs under $200 to build the entire thing.
If you don't know where to begin when it comes to construction of your solar panels. I would recommend purchasing a DIY solar panel guide. There are a lot available online for instant purchase and download. They cost about $50 and will simplify the process of panel construction a great deal.
I purchased a DIY solar panel guide when I was ready to get my solar panels up and running. I went with the green DIY energy guide, which I was very happy with. But there are others you can choose from as well.
When you are comparing guides just make sure you getting a good one, because some are definitely better than others. A good DIY guide will contain the following:
- Tutorial videos: these are the most important, in my opinion, aspect of the guide. To me, it is much easier to learn how to build solar panels by watching a video instead of reading a construction manual.
- Multiple manuals and bonuses covering both solar AND wind power.
- A money-back guarantee, so if you end up not building your panels you can get your money back.
