Wires on road connected to solar panels?
There's a hill in our neighborhood where everyone likes to speed.
About a week ago, I noticed an insulated wire with a plug-looking thing (almost like a TRS connector) at the end. The end without the plug was connected to a solar panel stuck into the grass next to the sidewalk, while the other end (with plug) traversed the road, stopping a few feet short of the other sidewalk. There's always two of them parallel to and a few feet from each other. They seem to be in a different spot every day.
I suspect it's a device to catch speeders. We have rich cops.
What do you think?
what i normally see are road tubes across the roadway. there are two of them about 3' apart. these are traffic counters used to measure the number of vehicles that travel over that road in a certain period of time. this is used in transportation studies.
when a vehicle drives over the tubes a count is received for each axel. two counts will show as a car when more that two axels drive across the tubes all axels are counted.
