Is funding alternative energy sources a national security issue?

It's become obvious that oil is running out and we have to rely on foreign oil from unstable countries. All of the untapped oil in America including the ocean would only supply 2% of American needs.

Should we take away all corporate welfare to oil companies and put that money into developing alternative energy resources?

In Washington state we use alternative energy for electricity and we have the cheapest electricity in the nation. We use hydropower.


Yes. We should be drilling for our own oil, which would be a more immediate fix. And we should be trying to find other solutions as well. However, a priority on those other solutions should be ones that will be accessible to everyone. It does no real good to come up with an awesome energy source that only a small percentage can afford.
