What to do before storing vehicle?
Have a Dodge Caravan with about 150,000miles / 250,000Km on it. Its been a good vehicle and had all its regular maintenance but its getting worn out. Rather than selling it for peanuts I was going to remove the insurance and leave it in the driveway so I can put day insurance on it when I need a van to pick up something.
Anyways, what should I do before leaving it to the elements? I'm only planning on using it a handful of times during the year and not at all during the winter. I was just going to get all the fluids topped up, the oil changed and the gas tank filled. Then put a solar panel in the window to trickle charge the battery.
Other thoughts?
(Oh, and I'm in Vancouver, so the winters aren't terrible but they do get to freezing on occassion and are very wet)
you should put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank so the gas doesn't go bad or build up moisture. and maybe armorall your tires once in a while so they don't get dry rot from the sun. make sure you run it at least once a month for a little while so the seals don't dry out as well.
