What better place is there to start a mass government funded solar power project than in (most) always sunny Australia? The Australian solar panel rebates that are available to those that qualify are amazing. Not to mention, they are a huge benefit to anyone that receives them. The Australian government knows the high cost of installing these renewable energy source panels, this is why a one-time rebate is provided for those that have not received the rebate previously. For those that might be wondering, this is how it works.

First, to be eligible for the rebate, your household must not have a taxable income of over $100,000. This sounds easy enough but you have to consider everything that is thought of as a taxable income such as cars, your home, and the money you ear each month from working. All these figures will add up quickly. In addition, to receive the credit, you cannot have received the Clean Energy rebate previously for any reason.

As enticing as it sounds to be self-sufficient and off the grid, in order to receive the rebate, you have to be attached to an approved grid. You can only get a rebate for your residential solar power system if you have a photovoltaic system professionally installed. Doing a home installation does not count. It could have been installed incorrectly, or there could be issues with the way that it was installed that prevent you from becoming self-sufficient. You must only purchase brand new equipment, this is a big requirement to getting to keep your equipment and receive the tariff as well. The requirement of having new equipment is more of a safety risk than anything else, if you have old equipment, there is no telling the problems it may have seen.

Once you have had your solar energy panels professionally installed, you are then eligible for a rebate of up to $8,000 dollars. This number is based on previous month's electricity usage with your local power company. The wattage that is acceptable is no more than 800 kilowatts. The rebate allows you up to an $8,000 return to help combat the cost of having these solar panels installed. You will start to accrue energy, and with it, you will be able to sell it to the power companies in excess, as you will never be able to use all the energy that you harvest.

Lastly, there is a Feed-In Tariff that all Australians with solar energy are eligible for. There are two different ways of being paid for this tariff, and which one you get depends on where you live. The first is only available to New South Wales and Australian Capitol Territory. This tariff pays you for the energy that you feed back into the grid as well as the energy you are using. The second tariff, also the most common one, is a tariff to pay you for the energy that you feed back to the grid to the power companies. This one does not pay for what you use.
