What is Green Energy?

Green energy is referred to energy produced in a manner that does not pollute the environment. It's a subset of renewable energy that may represent the energy sources and technologies with highest environmental benefits. The usual types of green energy that comes in mind are solar, wind, geothermal and hydro energy. But there are more types of green energy such as nuclear energy, ocean energy, and biomass or energy from solid wastes.

One of the key benefits of green energy is that, it's totally safe for the environment. Because its main goal is to generate power with little pollution as much as possible. Using green energy, can help in mitigating climate change. Moreover we can decrease our dependence on oil since it is renewable, there are plenty of sources that can supply the increasing demand of energy worldwide. Whereas with the energy derived from fossil fuels, aside from the fact that it's expensive and limited it also pollutes the environment.

It's true that green energy facilities are expensive to build, however these facilities only require less maintenance so it won't cost that much to operate it. Added to that, there are other byproducts of these green energy facilities, such as distilled water and high alloy steel wire. Aside from the green energy produced, these other products can be used in other industries.

It's a great thing that technologies nowadays are improving when it comes to green energy production. An example of this is the biosphere gasification technology. It's a gasification process that has no toxic leftovers which cause leachate issues and it uses limited-oxygen environment which limits atmospheric emissions. Biosphere technology also helps clean up the environment by destroying solid wastes to produce green electricity and other by-products.
