West London solar panels mean big business
Solar panel installation in West London has become big business after the Renewable Energy Association (REA) announced the success of a scheme which allows people to generate electricity and then sell it to their supplier.
According to Stuart Pocock from the organisation, the REA has observed a steady growth in the renewable energy market, which includes the numerous solar panels appearing across West London, since the scheme started on April 1st 2010.
The news comes as a report by banking colossus HSBC forecast the low carbon economy to treble to $2.2 trillion globally by the end of the decade.
Energy generated from West London-style solar panels currently holds the largest share of the low carbon market, which also includes energy-saving products like house insulation and electric cars.
Revenues from renewable energy sources, like West London's solar panels, were forecast to increase by 9.4% annually, to a market size of $500 billion worldwide by 2020, HSBC reported.
Future growth in the solar panel business in places like West London will be driven by tough commitments on efficiency made by member states of the European Union, with the USA lagging behind, according to the bank's report.
In addition the UK Government has recently changed its rules on renewable energy to potentially allow local authorities, like those in West London, to sell any solar panel electricity they generate at public sector installations on the open market.
