Renewable Alternative Energy

Why is it necessary to find alternative sources of renewable energy?

Renewable energy sources can work with in conjunction with other energy providers. There are issues with hours of sunlight, percent on day that the wind blows, tide times versus human energy consumption. Geothermal energy can run 24 hours a day. Solar thermal with salt ponds can run longer than sunlight hours. Wind plants distributed over a country have better availability than single location wind farms. Hydroelectric energy can be used to match the power consumption variability. Solar technologies do track human power usage (higher temperature = more power used).

If the true cost to the environment is charged to fossil fuel users then alternative energy will become more favourable.
