how would an energy company measure usage per household?
If I worked for an energy company and we wanted to track energy consumption per household....
1. How often do households get billed? (monthly, biweekly, etc?)
2. How is it measured? (Kilowatts, megawatt??)
3. What is a average/normal amount of energy a household uses?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance and would really appreciate help with one or all the questions.
Each household has a meter showing power used in kilowatts (for electrical power).
Most households are billed quarterly, i.e. every three months, however some who may have difficulty paying this way can pay in advance by charging up a "key" using cash at a retail outlet, inserting "key" to obtain electricity to the limit purchased.
A similar arrangement exists for Gas, except it's billed in volume of Gas used measured in Cubic metres (UK).
The site below will give average consumptions of both Gas and electricity.
