Celebrities Set Trends in Solar

When I first saw Edward Norton in Primal Fear opposite Richard Gere, I thought he looked very smart even though he was playing a pathological killer. Today, he is known as the  star in the previously released action sequel to the "Hulk" movie. Norton plays a physicist who turns in to a green superhero who rages with a bit of a temper problem.

Norton is also green in real life. He has committed himself to a program called BP Celebrity Neighbors program. The program sold Norton solar panels for his home, while the program donated a solar panel system to a low-income family in the Los Angeles area based on his purchase. More celebrities are catching the green gift as well.

What I like about this program is the fact that celebrities set trends. People listen to and following celebrities' interests and causes. Norton took the initiative to make a difference by setting an example, then helping the less fortunate. Because celebrities are involved, the program is getting publicity, a message that is positive about solar energy, helping the low income families and the environment.

Another celebrity did the same thing. Owen Wilson purchased solar panels using the same BP Solar Neighbors program. Just like Norton, his purchase was matched by the program, donating a complete solar panel system for the 8-unit apartment building, Jacob's Place. Jacob's place is an apartment building located in the Fordham neighborhood of the South Bronx.

I get excited just thinking about how many people benefit from both Norton's and Wilson's purchase.
