Charge a 12V-7AH with a car charger?
I have a portable speaker/music system that is powered by a 12V-7AH battery. I have a couple extra batteries, and would like to be able to charge them via a 12 volt car charger (and/or a 12 volt solar panel with car socket that I have). I have an AC charger for the speaker itself but would like to charge the batteries directly via DC. Is this possible and if so, what would I need to buy/construct?
What kind of solar charger controller would I need? A quick google search pulled up a bunch but they all seem a little big and pricey?
solar charger are expensive!!!! Check eBay. VW ships some of their cars with a solar charger, these chargers end up on eBay for about $40.00.
Yes, you can charge a 12V 7AH SLA battery using a car charger. Put the charger in "low maintenance" mode or "sealed battery" mode.
You can also set a 12V power supply to 13.2V to charge the battery. the battery is really a 12.6V and you can safely charge at .6V above the actual battery voltage.
