Green Energy Sources--What Are They?

Today many people are looking for sources of green energy to use in their homes and business to make them more energy efficient. What is green energy you ask? And what is the source?

The main green energy sources are wind, water and sun. They are renewable, and using them helps cut down on pollution, global warming and other environmental concerns. Using green energy sources also lowers utility costs.

Solar energy, or energy captured from sunlight is the most accepted green energy source because there are several ways to use it to make energy.  One way to harness the sun is by using solar panels made up of photovoltaic cells used to change the sun's energy into electricity that can then be used to run your home or business. Solar hot water collectors also use the sun to heat water.

The above solar green energy sources are increasing in popularity because they are easily available and can be mounted on the roof of your business or home.

Wind is the most efficient green energy. It has been used for years to run windmills to pump water where there is no other power source. It has recently grown in demand as a way to supplement the electrical needs of a home or business.

Since wind does not produce any pollution or cause any global warming, it is considered the most safe and clean green energy source.

A turbine is used to harvest wind energy. As it gently spins in the breeze, electricity is generated. While  the sun is everywhere and easily available, you must live where there is a significant amount of wind in order to take advantage of wind energy.

While water is a feasible green energy resource and is pollution free and renewable, it is not used as much for homes, because most homes do not have a nearby stream to produce electricity.

Water was used in times past to power a water wheel which in turn was connected to machines by large belts. Whole shops and mills were powered this way.

Are you intrested in using Green Energy Sources? Want to decrease the demand for fossil fuels? Want to lower your utility bill? Want to combat global warming? Want to add years of life to Mother Earth?
