What would a Green Recovery do for your state?

A “Green Recovery” report recently released by the Center for American Progress and Dr. Robert Pollin from the University of Massachusetts Political Economy Research Institute looks at how a $100 billion strategic investment can generate 2 million new, well-paying jobs (at least $16/hour) in the renewable and energy efficiency sectors and beyond.

The bottom of this page contains links to the report's breakdown by state.

For example, in California this green investment would result in a 1.3% decrease in unemployment. The job creation would be seen primarily in the manufacturing and construction sectors, both of which sorely need the boost.

What would this Green Recovery do for your state?

A green recovery is, ironically, giving my section of Texas a new lease. We are in the Permian Basin, noted world over for light sweet Texas crude. There are rigs all over here, as have been for the last 50 or 60 years.

Now, however, we can not sit near the local highway for more than ten minutes without seeing a wind mill blade being hauled by semi to a nearby wind farm. They are all over the place here, and it is a building boom for us.

Not every community will have the wind farm phenomena, but installing solar facilities and these wind farms have been a minor economic miracle for us.

good question!
