can i take my solar panels off my roof?

I put pv solar on my house 3 years ago and now are moving to our off grid home. I want to take the panels off my roof and put them on the new house. can I sell my old house without the panels even though I got a rebate on them for going on the old house?

You will probably void the installer's warranty on the system, but if you own the panels, they're yours to take. The kindest thing to do would be to leave the standoffs, if you're taking the racks. If you take the standoffs, that leaves holes in your roof, not good unless you're going to re-roof. I would leave the inverter, which is no good off-grid, anyway, but turn off the breaker feeding the panel. Make PV an easy drop-in for the next owner.

But personally, I would leave the panels. They are probably increasing the saleability of the house, and possibly the price. And besides, I expect a steep drop in price, maybe 25% from last year, in panel prices later this year.

If I misunderstood, and you're keeping both houses, many of the arguments could still apply.
