Regarding energy security, the author remind us that although Malaysia is blessed with various energy sources, previous inadequate energy policy, planning, pricing and infrastructure development before the reformation era made the country currently not capable to utilize optimally those resources for domestic purpose such as gas, coal, as well as very valuable and green geothermal. The coal mining even produces ‘the curse’ such as abandoned coal mining which are not well reclaimed and thousands hectares of tropical forests being transformed into desert.
